About
FathersWork Is Awesome
I'm working on this site to offer tools to fathers who are working hard to be a good father to the children. One of the greatest challenges that some fathers face is a spouse, former spouse, or co-parent who is trying to prevent them from seeing their children. That type of situation often leads to lengthy and expensive court litigation, and unfortunately for fathers, its quite often an uphill challenge.
After personally going through some protracted litigation to maintain even a minimal about of visitation with my infant daughter, I was shocked by the bias and prejudice I found to run rampant through the court system and legal profession. Due to the emotional trauma I experienced, I joined a support group of fathers fighting for equal rights, and was again shocked by the extent of the problem. There were so many other fathers who were facing similar challenges, trying to do what society expected of them, but at the same time prevented them from doing so. I felt like I had to do something to help, so I decided to start a website with a web application to help fathers (and parents) of all types be the best that they can be.
I started working on the site in late 2010, launched a very early alpha version in early 2011, and I'll be actively working on it throughout 2011.
The site offers functionality to:
- Keep track of child support payment tracking
- Maintain and update visition schedules
- Record visitation notes and memories
- Make plans for future visitations
I'm planning to add more features soon:
- Support groups - connect with other dads in difficult situations and help each other out.
- Share your story - what have you gone through, how did you overcome your challenges?
- My kids - remember their birthdays, their interests, and their favorite foods!
Although this site is titled “FathersWork.com” and was founded by a divorced father, this site is for everyone, as long as they agree to and abide by the FatherWork.com terms of use.
